George Cooke returned to England in 1645, became a colonel in Cromwell's army, and was "reported to be slain in the wars in Ireland in the year 1652."

From Walter Goodwin Davis (citation details below):

Plentifully supplied with money, [Joseph and George Cooke] purchased large properties in Cambridge from settlers who were moving to the Connecticut Valley, and immediately became prominent in the community. Joseph Cooke was selectman of Cambridge in 1635 and in six succeeding years, also serving as town clerk from 1635 to 1641. Returning to England himself in 1658, he was of Stanway, co. Essex, in 1665 when he conveyed his Cambridge property to his son Joseph.
