    Other Events and Attributes:

    • Alternate death: 1734

    Notes:

She was long thought to have been Sarah Beall, a daughter of Ninian Beall; later, genealogist Brice Clagett suggested that she may have been Sarah Pottenger, a daughter of Robert and Sarah Pottenger of Lambourne, Berkshire. In 2001, however, Clagett withdrew this theory, saying that it could not be sustained in the face of further evidence that had emerged. A page on WikiTree, The Mystery of Sarah Magruder and Mary Pottenger, expands on this and ventures a well-argued theory that she was a daughter of William Mills (born 1628, died 26 Apr 1676 in Calvert County, Maryland) and Tabitha Wright (born 1647 in Medfield, Suffolk, died 20 Jan 1701, Prince George's County, Maryland. Mike Marshall mounts further evidence for this at his page for this Sarah on his site Early Colonial Settlers of Southern Maryland and Virginia's Northern Neck Counties.

Family/Spouse: Samuel Magruder. Samuel (son of Alexander Magruder and Sarah) was born about 1660 in of "Good Luck," near Upper Marlboro, Prince George's County, Maryland; died in 1711. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
