    Notes:

    The Wentworth Genealogy, English and American shows Hannah Chesley as a daughter of James Chesley and Mehitable Waldron, and says that she "married (his first wife) Rev. Avery Hall, pastor of the church in Rochester, N. H., from 15 October 1766 to 10 April 1775; and had two children", but it gives her no birth, death, or marriage dates.

    Heard-Hurd Genealogy calls her "Mary Chesley", but concurs with other sources in calling her husband Avery Hall and her daughter Mehitable Hall.

    "He was a man of quite small stature, but possessed much dignity of manners united with the greatest affability, persuaded of the truth of Christianity, and deeply sensible of its importance, he was well able to defend it; his sermons were ably written and delivered with great fervor; his pastoral visits were frequent and conducted judiciously; he was humble, self denying, full of the love of souls, prayerful and zealous for the cause of Christ; during his ministry of 37 years in Meriden, 250 were added to the church; he possessed great firmness of character, and was a zealous advocate of civil and religious liberty; he published two sermons on the death of Rev. Isaac Stiles; two on faith; and one on the ordination of Rev. Matthew Morrison, of Berwick, Maine."

    "John Waldron's two oldest daus. Sarah and Bridget, ages 9 and 7, were killed by Indians. They were turning out the calves into a pasture near the house, when nine Indians suddenly appeared, seized them and cut off their heads directly before the door, with an axe upon a log, and in sight of their mother in the house, who dared not give any alarm. They carried off the heads with them, but [the heads] were found by their father some weeks afterwards in some bushes, where the Indians had thrown them after taking their scalps; and he buried them with their bodies."

    Mehitable Waldron was John and Mary Waldron's child immediately following Sarah and Bridget.
