    In the entry for his son Tobias, the ODNB notes in reference to Thomas Gentleman (or Jentelman) that "the clerk who entered his burial on 30 July 1609 added that 'he lived above fourscore years in perfect sight and memorie, and in his flourishinge time for building of shipps and many other commendable parts he continued in his place unmatchable'."
