From Jesse Adams's application for a Revolutionary War pension, 20 Sep 1832:

"[S]tates he was mustered into service at Kingston in the state of North Carolina under Capt John Whitley and Matthew Crellars Lieutenant under Col Wm Caswell and marched monks corner in South Carolina thence to the White Cliffs in view of Augusta and down through Augusta and down near the mpouth of Briar Creek in pursuit of the British and when they got there they had taken up the bridge and that our enemy was stationed between Briar Creek and the Savannah River until the British army marched -- and marched around and came down on the back of our troops; that he was sick at the time of the battle of Briar creek and was not at the same -- he then returned home to Franklin co North Carolina 1781."

"In 1769 there is a record of deed of land in Bute Co., N.C. (Also shows deeds in 1774 and 1777 where he sold land.) Jesse Adams served in the Revolutionary War. He applied for a pension in 1832 while living in Humphreys Co., TN. In 1810 he is in the Nash Co., NC census. He moved that same year and is in the Smith Co., Tn census. In 1820 they are still in Smith Co.

"They then moved to Humphreys Co., TN shortly after that because Jesse Hammonds and his wife Martha Mourning Adams married there in 1823. Jesse Adams died in Humphreys Co., TN on Dec 6, 1835, he was 82 years old! Nancy Alice (Nica) continued to live there until some of her children along with Jesse and Mourning moved to Gibson Co. around 1850. She then lived with some of her children. They had 12 children and they migrated through TN, KY, GA, AL."

Note that Bute County, North Carolina was carved out of Granville County in 1764.

Eunice "Unicy" Hunt married Jesse Adams 5/26/1782 in Franklin County, NC
Unicy became entitled to a widow's pension after Jesse's death 12/6/1835 in Benton County, Tennessee.

An affidavit by son-in-law Jesse Hammonds dated 1/12/1844 said she was "77 on the 21st of November last". Another statement said she was "74 on the 21st of November last" so we can be confident of her birthday.

On the 1850 census NICA ADAMS age 83 resided with her daughter & son-in-law Mourning & Jesse Hammonds. Her parents married in 1766 and she was the 2nd child which along with the census record would place her dob as 11/21/1767. She presumably died in Gibson Co, TN during that decade but I do not know her precise date of death.

On June 18, 1840 in Benton County Tennessee, Unicy Adams, 74, filed for a widow's pension under the 1836 act stating that she is the widow of Jesse Adams who was a pensioner at the rate of $26.66 per annum for his service in the revolution; that she married him May 26, 1782; that he died December 6 1835 and that she remains his widow.

Benton County

On this thirty first day of October one thousand eight hundred and forty personally appeared before me JESSE HAMMONDS as acting Justice of the peace in and for Benton County band state aforesaid UNICY ADAMS a resident of the State of Tennessee in the county of Benton aged seventy three years November 21st 1839.

Who being first duly sworn according to law, doth on her oath made the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the provision made by the act of Congress passed July 7 1838, entitled an act granting half pay and pensions to certain widows: That she is the widow of JESSE ADAMS who was a private in the militia in the revolutionary war having a certificate of pension from the War department for twenty six dollars and sixty six cents per annulment during his natural life.

She farther declares that she was married to JESSE ADAMS on the 26th day of May one thousand seven hundred and eighty two.  That her husband, the aforesaid JESSE ADAMS died on the 6th day of Dec one thousand eight hundred and thirty five.  That she was not married to him prior to his leaving the services, but the marriage took place previous to the first of January seventeen hundred and ninety four.

ancestry.com's "ThruLines" DNA feature suggests that the father of Unicy who married Jesse Adams was Henry Hunt (1744-1825). The will of one Henry Hunt of Wilson County, Tennessee, dated 4 May 1825, gives "unto my daughter [illegible] Adams, one bed and furniture." It also names sons Benjamin, Jesse, and Hardy, and daughter Tabitha, and ancestry.com shows DNA matches to PNH for claimed descendants of all four of those individuals. A Find a Grave page for this Henry Hunt calls him "Rev Henry Hunt," although we have no other evidence that he was a clergyman.

Henry married Ann Taylor on 31 Jan 1766 in Bute County, North Carolina. Ann was born on 2 Feb 1745 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia; died in Tennessee. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Nash County, North Carolina Vital Records Abstracts by Cynthia Herrin, an index-only database on ancestry.com, contains an 1806 Nash County, North Carolina death record for Willoughby Manning, father of (among others) Rahab Manning, and son of Matthias and Margaret Manning.

Update, 25 Apr 2016: Culpepper Connections has incorporated the names of Matthias and Margaret Manning.

This Thomas Hunt's Find a Grave page gives his birth as "probably bef. 1711" and his parents as "William (IV) Hunt and Sarah (Wyche) Hunt", but it appears that the Thomas Hunt who was this couple's son died in 1759 and mentions no son Henry in his will.

Thomas Hunt served in the Revolutionary War and swore the oath of allegiance in North Carolina on October 08, 1754 of the Granville Co., VA Militia in Capt. Benjamin Simms Company, under the command of of Col. William Eaton. [...]

Thomas Hunt's will dated 26 Sept. 1790 (rec'd. Mar. 1791, Franklin Co., NC) included grandchild, Josiah Massey, son of a dau, dec'd., who married Drury Massey (will book A; p. 121 shows Hardy Hunt as guardian for Josiah Massey's part of his grandfather's estate...$28 1/2, and has for son Drury Massey).
