Notes - The Ann Bryant recorded as buried 13 Oct 1804 in St. Ives is noted on the burial record as "daughter of William and Margery". The marriage record for Anthony Couch and Ann Bryant, m. 20 Jun 1774 in St. Ives, shows as witnesses Anthony Couch and William Bryant. The groom's father is known through other evidence to have been an Anthony Couch. The combination of marriage and burial records amounts to reasonable circumstantial evidence that Ann Bryant's father was named William Bryant.
If Philip William Richards is correct that Ann Bryant was born in Lelant, it's possible that she was related to the William Bryant who is celebrated for, in 1791, leading a group of fellow convicts in a daring escape from Port Jackson in New South Wales, in which they traveled in an open boat all the way to Timor. That William Bryant is held to have been baptized at St. Uny, Lelant, in April 1757, to parents William and Jane.
