Notes - The account of John Livermore the younger in Robert Charles Anderson's GMB2 (volume 4, page 300, published 2005) states that he married, first, by 1668, Hannah ——, and second, by 1697, Elizabeth (Grout) Allen, "daughter of John Grout and widow of Samuel Allen." But the John Grout chapter in volume 2 of Alicia Crane Williams's Early New England Families (2019) would seem to correct this. Williams states that Hannah Grout, second child of John Grout and Sarah Busby, married John Livermore in about 1668; that Elizabeth Grout, that couple's eighth child, married Samuel Allen of Watertown in 1683 and died in 1694; and (in footnote 76) that Elizabeth Grout "did not m. second John Livermore. He married her sister Hannah." For Elizabeth's death in 1694, Williams cites NEHGR 109:154; for her marriage to Samuel Allen, Sudbury VR 208 and NEHGR 18:47.
In other words, both John Livermore of Wethersfield and Weston, and Samuel Allen of Watertown, married daughters of John Grout and Sarah Busby, John marrying Hannah and Samuel marrying Elizabeth; and in both cases these were these men's only wives.
