Notes - She and her brother John de Brewes were long held to be offspring of Peter de Brewes by his wife Joan de Percy, but a growing consensus appears to be that Peter de Brewes and Joan de Percy were divorced in 1352 (after which she married Alan Cheney), that Peter de Brewes then married as his second wife Joan Howard daughter of John Howard and Alice de Bois, and that John and Beatrice were children of Peter de Brewes's second marriage. This is discussed in detail in an article by P. W. Mackenzie, "The Maternity of John and Beatrix de Brewes", and a brief followup by Doug Thompson, "Additional Circumstantial Evidence Suggesting that the Second Wife of Peter de Brewes was Joan Howard."
