Notes - She was scalped by natives near Northampton, Massachusetts, 13 May 1704. She survived, but according to her descendant Samuel Jones Tilden (citation details below) she always wore a black cap afterwards.
The Ancestry of Lorenzo Ackley (citation details below) says that she was "cured by Dr. Bulkeley of Wethersfield, where the family settled to enable her to receive the best medical treatment obtainable."
The Janes Family (citation details below) identifies the doctor as "Dr. Gershom Buckley."
