  • Notes
    • He moved from Maryland to the Springfield, Ohio area in 1864.

His will, dated 10 Dec 1881, bequeaths $1500 to his daughter "Elizabeth Smith wife of Ezra Smith."

The 17 Dec 1886 record of his probate is extremely hard to read and follow, but it clearly names, among various other kin, "Martin Smith, grandson", of Arcadia, Hancock County, Ohio. One of the sons of his daughter Elizabeth Young and her husband Ezra Smith was the Rev. Martin Luther Smith (1850-1918), who was buried in Springfield, Ohio, the same place where Daniel Young died and was buried.

The probate documentation also records that "Anna M. Smith" was notified of the ongoing proceedings; this presumably refers to Anna May Derr (1859-1943), wife of Lewis Carlton Smith, who was another son of his daughter Elizabeth Young and her husband Ezra Smith. Lewis Carlton and Anna May (Derr) Smith are of course ancestors of ASF.
