Notes - He was a woolen draper of London. He and his wife emigrated to Virginia in 1769, first settling near Hampton, then removing the following year to Piedmont. in 1778 he was a representative for Berkeley County to the Virginia House of Delegates. Later, in 1781, he was appointed commissioner to settle the claims of Maryland against the infant Federal government, and relocated to Annapolis as a result.
He is said to have been born 19 Jul 1731 at Weston-under-Penyard, Herefordshire, a son of John Nourse and Eliza Gregory.
