Notes - From Mary Belle Lontz (citation details below): "From the public record office in Dublin, Ireland, we learn that Simon Hadley lived first in King's County, Ireland, where he owned a smithy and was also interested in some fishing property in Dublin. Simon Hadley married first, Catherine Talbot, who was the mother of his children and the first of the family to join the Society of Friends, probably as a result of the visit of William Penn to 'Ulster.' Simon Hadley also joined the Society of Friends and once apologized to his Meeting for allowing his son too many liberties. From the Monthly Meeting Records of Moate Meeting, West Meath County, is an early entry that Catherine Hadley, wife of Simon Hadley, died April 20, 1710, and was buried four days later, aged 70 years. Her birth, would then have been in 1640."
Mary Belle Lontz (citation details below) asserts that Simon Hadley "was descended from landed proprietors of Hadleigh, Somerset, England."
