  • Notes
    • He graduated from Harvard in 1661 and returned to Lynn to assist his father the Rev. Samuel Whiting in his ministry there. After Samuel died, Joseph was ordained as his successor on 6 Oct 1680. In 1682 the town of Southampton on Long Island, which at the time was composed mostly of families from Lynn, invited Joseph Whiting to come there and be their minister, which he did sometime in 1682 or 1683, continuing there until his death.
