• Notes

  Jane Belcher (citation details below) says that he was "probably the Samuel Hall who died 7 May 1733 at Enfield (then a part of Hampshire County, massachusetts, but since 1749 in Connecticut)", but that "[i]n any event, he was deceased by 29 August 1738". The generally good The Halls of New England (citation details below) mistakenly conflates him with the Samuel Hall who married Abigail Pratt; this was untangled by later scholarship summarized by Jane Belcher (citation details below).
