Notes - The identity of Jemima Montague's mother is not entirely clear. The History and Genealogy of the Montague Family (citation details below) says that John Montague's first wife was Mindwell Lyman who died 4 April 1713, and that he married, second, Abigail Smith (daughter of John Smith and Mary Root) on 29 Sep 1714.
On the other hand, familysearch.org contains a transcribed record (with no image available) for the birth of a Jemima Montague on 8 Jan 1717 at Hadley, given as a daughter of John and Mindwell Montague. The same site also contains a transcribed record for the birth of a "Jemima Mountague" in Jan 1719, also stated as daughter of John and Mindwell; this one does link to a set of images, 96 pages of extremely jumbled and marginally-legible handwritten records of Hadley. Perhaps a genealogist more dedicated than us will examine these records someday.
On the other other hand, the Find a Grave page for "Mrs Mindwell Lyman Montague" shows a clear photograph of a gravestone at Old Hadley Cemetery which was clearly carved in the early 1700s and which just as clearly gives her death date as "Apr 4 1713", strongly suggesting that the History and Genealogy of the Montague Family was right all along and that Jemima's mother was Abigail Smith, whether Jemima was born in 1717 or 1719.
