Notes - Robert Charles Anderson, in GMB, lists Mary as the last of the children of John Woodbridge and Mercy Dudley, giving her an estimated birth year of "say 1664". But her Wikitree page links to a parish register on ancestry.com showing the birth of a Mary Woodbridge to John and Mercy (Mercy misstranscribed as "Mary") Woodbridge on 6 Jan 1650 at Barford St. Martin in Wiltshire. We know from Cotton Mather that John and Mercy Woodbridge were back in England in 1650; in fact they travelled there from New England in 1647, "where [Wolodbridge] soon found employment (besides his being a chaplain to the commissions treating with the King at the Isle of Wight), first at the considerable town of Andover, afterwards at Burford St. Martin's in Wiltshire; at the last of which places he continued until the return of the Episcopacy first sequestered him, and they being ousted of the school at Newberry, the infamous Bartholomew-act caused him, in the year 1663 (with his now numerous family) to come once more unto New-England." So it would appear that the Mary Woodbridge recorded as born 6 Jan 1650 was genuinely a daughter of John and Mary Woodbridge, even if not definitely the same individual as the Mary Woodbridge who married Samuel Appleton.
