• Notes

  Came to Saybrook in 1658 with his mother and her second husband, William Backus. The family moved on to Norwich, Connecticut with that latter town's first settlers, and Thomas Bingham became an original proprietor despite still being a minor. Removed to Windham, Connecticut in 1693, "where he became prominent in civil and church affairs; selectman, deacon of the church and sergeant of the military company."
