"On 27 July 1303 at Montpellier, Bérengar and the nobility of Rouergue pledged their support for Philippe IV 'le Bel', king of France, in his conflict with Pope Boniface VIII. In 1305 he requested Pierre de Pleine-Chassagne, bishop of Rodez, to proceed with the consecration of the church of Our Lady of Arpajon. He was present at the Estates General convened in Paris in 1317, where he presented himself to Pierre de Ferrières, seneschal of Rouergue, expressing his wish to go to Arras to fight in the king's army in Flanders.
