E. H. Martin (citation details below) states both that Thomas Swinnerton died in 1627 (p. 318) and also that he died at the battle of Naseby, on the royalist side, in 1645 (p. 320). Shropshire in the Civil War by Terry Bracher and Roger Emmett (Shropshire Books, 2000) records a "Captain Swynnerton" being taken prisoner by Parliamentarian forces under Sir Thomas Myddleton on 3 Jul 1644, as they defeated an attempt by Royalist calvalry under Colonel Marrow to recapture Oswestry (!).

The London and Middlesex Notebook (citation details below) says "He was living 28 Jun 1627, at which date he sold the estate of Stanway."

She married secondly, 8 Aug 1683, John Hopwood; and engaged in a series of legal battles with her eldest son John Swinnerton Dyer and his wife over control of various properties. The measure of her unhappiness with him can be read in her will: "Whereas my daughter Johanna, now wife of Thomas Griffith, Esquire, hath been disobedient and undutiful toward me as well as her departing from me and disposing herself in marriage without my consent, as by divers other wayes, and hath justly incurred my displeasure, I give her £300 for her separate use apart from her husband, and my best jewell. To my son, Sir John Swinnerton Dyer, and my daughter Sarah, wife of John Hooke, by reason of their unfaithful behavior toward me, I bequeath them 5/- each, to be paid one year after my decease."
