    According to Rosie Bevans' detailed sketch (citation details below), he may have been married at one point to Margery Foljambe, daughter of Sir Godfrey Foljambe who died in 1375. Margery Foljambe is unmentioned in his History of Parliament biography (citation details below). Both Bevan and HoP include his first wife Ann, to whom he was married around 1364, and his last wife Margaret, widow of Richard Baskerville (1370-1394) of Eardisley, Herefordshire. Margaret was still living in 1436. There appears to be no clarity about which of these wives was the mother of his son and heir Nicholas.

    "As Nicholas Montgomery, 'le filz,' he was indentured to king Henry V in April 1415 to serve for one year with a retinue of 3 men at arms and nine foot archers in the invasion of France. As Constable of Tutbury he was briefly given the custody of Charles Duke of Bourbon who had been captured at the battle of Agincourt in 1415.
