    Notes:

    Came in 1632 on the Lyon. First at Cambridge, then to Hartford in 1636. An original proprietor of Hartford, he was among the "Adventurers Party" of twenty-five men led by John Steele who scouted area that would become Hartford in October 1635, before the Rev. Hooker's party departed Cambridge in May 1636. His name is on the Founders Monument in downtown Hartford.

    The research into his English origins that was published in Genealogy of the Olmsted Family in America (citation details below) was supervised by his descendant Frederick Law Olmsted.

    James married Joyce Cornish on 26 Oct 1605 in Great Leighs, Essex, England. Joyce died before 21 Apr 1621; was buried on 21 Apr 1621 in Fairsted, Essex, England. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Came in 1632 on the Lyon with his father James Olmstead and his brother Nehemiah. First at Cambridge, then Hartford in 1636. His name is on the Founders Monument in downtown Hartford. He served in the Pequot War, 1637, and as a captain in King Philip's War, 1675.

    Nicholas married Sarah Loomis before 1645. Sarah (daughter of Joseph Loomis and Mary White) was born in 1617; died in 1667. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
