    Also called Jasper ap Maredudd ap Tudur; Jasper Owen; Jasper of Hatfield. Created Earl of Pembroke in 1452, a title he lost in the course of the Wars of the Roses. An uncle of Henry VII, he was a leading architect of his nephew's defeat of Richard III and ascent to the throne. In 1485, following Henry's defeat of Richard at Bosworth Field (in which battle Jasper Tudor fought alongside Henry), the newly-crowned Henry VII restored Jasper's earldom and created him Duke of Bedford as well.
