    Notes:

From Donnelly, John Medley (1615-1660): "JOSEPH URBAN MEDLEY (849) was born 4/2/1868 in Rineyville, Kentucky, the son of JOSEPH GATTON "GAT" MEDLEY (487) and ROSELLA ANNA HAYDEN (549). JOSEPH URBAN MEDLEY was named as an heir of his grandfather URBAN HAYDEN (276) (Deed D:132, Daviess Co., KY). He spent many years on his father's farm prior to his marriage, and served in the Spanish American War. On 5/5/1905 he married first Mary Virginia Blandford (d 9/24/1909). At the time of their daughters births they were residing in Omaha, Nebraska and then returned to Owensboro, Kentucky. In Owensboro on 8/16/1911 he married secondly Malissa Marie Clark (b 10/27/1882, d 12/27/1947 in Owensboro, KY), the daughter of Felix Clark and Catherine Blandford. They moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming. JOSEPH URBAN MEDLEY was a professional photographer and the family lived near Army installations as he specialized in troop pictures. They next moved to Texas City, Texas, and then to El Paso, Texas where he built a large home for his growing family. Malissa Marie was never satisfied being so far from Kentucky and eventually the family returned to Kentucky and bought a large farm across the river in Indiana. A flood wiped out his entire first crop and the family lost everything. The family returned to Owensboro where JOSEPH URBAN MEDLEY was a policeman and park supervisor of Mooreland Park. While a policeman he never arrested a drunk. Instead he called a taxi to take the person home, and payed for it out of his own pocket. While a park supervisor he planted all the beautiful trees that one today sees in Mooreland Park. At the time of his death on 2/7/1932, he was a barber in Owensboro. He is remembered by his children with respect and love.
