Where we work: A pleasant overview of the Flatiron Building, of which Tor Books occupies the 14th floor, on the occasion of the building’s 100th anniversary.

I do enjoy being able to point to Alfred Stieglitz photographs, designer shopping bags, and Marvel Comics splash panels, and say “That’s my office window.” (I’m on the Broadway side, looking out over Madison Square Park with a fine view of the Metropolitan Life tower and the Chrysler Building.)

"He is owner of the Masonic Supply Company, which purveys rhinestone fezzes and other ceremonial paraphernalia to members of the Ancient Arabic Order of Nobles of the Mystic Shrine."

Wow! Illuminati in the Flatiron building! Do they have a bin of specials where you can buy irregular fezzes? Does this guy commute in a Little Car?

Heavens! When Elizabeth and I spent a splendid week in Manhattan this past May, we stopped a nostalgic/touristy stroll along Broadway to enjoy the beautiful day and to simply admire the grace and charisma of the Flatiron. If I'd known you were there I'da chucked pebbles at your window.

I gotta say that I envy you the view.

I spend my hours in a windowless (TV) editing room on 30th and 7th Ave. But on energetic days, or whenever I want to put off getting to work, I walk from home in the East Village, past the Flatiron. A tip of my Adirondacks baseball cap next time I pass!

And if you have a moment, check out my weblog, The Daily Glyph.

Thanks for the good reading
