  From The Stowell Genealogy (citation details below): Resided in Nauvoo, Ill.; Council Bluff, Iowa; Provo, Fillmore, Bingham's Fort and Ogden, Utah. Was a farmer. Went to Colonia Juarez, Mexico in 1889. Went to Nauvoo with the Prophet Joseph Smith and shared in all the trials coming to the Valley in 1848. Was a Pioneer, Indian Scout and Capt. of a Mormon Company in all the battles with the Indians. Was a Patriarch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints until his death, having held previously all the other minor offices in suecession.
