Notes - He was a tenant in chief at Domesday in the East and West Ridings of Yorkshire and in Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.
Much has been said about him that was later shown to be incorrect; for instance, it is unlikely that he was a lord of Alnwick. He was also probably not descended from the house of Tesson in Calvados, Normandy.
