• Notes

  Also spelled Dezotelle, Desotelle, Desautils, etc. Her Vermont death certificate gives her birth as 12 Apr 1846 in Québec; it also gives her parents as "Frances Dezotell" and "Roselda Frechette." But the handwritten record of her 12 April 1856 baptism in Marieville, Quebec clearly shows her parents as François Désautels and Rosalie Seguin (or Sequin). And the Vermont record of her 1867 marriage to Charles Pudvah (given here as Charles Potevin) names her parents as François Désautels and Rosalie Seguin. Perhaps Frechette was a "dit" surname in Rosalie Seguin's family; or perhaps Rosalie Seguin, for whom we have not found a death date, died early and Marie Rosalie Désautels was raised by a subsequent wife named Frechette.
