Notes - Denis Beauregard (citation details below) has the Alexis Fournier who married Marie Patenaude in Longueuil on 30 Oct 1815 as a separate individual from the Alexis Fournier dit Préfontaine who married Marie Vincent nearly three years earlier at the same place, on 18 Jan 1813. He gives Marie Patenaud's husband the parents "Simon & Josette Viau dit l'Esperance", with no further information about Simon and Josette, and he gives Marie Vincent's husband the parents Étienne Fournier dit Préfontaine and Marie Josèphe Viau dit l'Esperance. But it would appear the two Alexis Fourniers are the same person. Marie Vincent died on 9 Feb 1814 at Longueuil, and Alexis Fournier dit Prefontaine's parents were indeed Étienne (not Simon) Fournier dit Préfontaine and Marie Josèphe Viau dit l'Esperance.
The handwritten record, in the online Drouin Collection, of Alexis Fournier dit Préfontaine's 30 Oct 1815 marriage to Marie Patenaude is extremely hard to read, but nothing it it looks like the name Simon, whereas on line 17 of the right-hand page there is writing that can easily be made out to read "Etienne Fournier," and on the next line we can see "Viau dit L'esperance".
