Notes - He came to Virginia in the Providence in 1623, and was living with his brother John Chisman at Elizabeth City in 1624. He was a justice in 1652, and resided in Pocosin (or Poquosin) parish on Chisman's creek.
His son Edmund, who qualified as a justice on 25 Jul 1670, took part in Bacon's Rebellion and, after Bacon's death, was captured by Robert Beverley in York River. The younger Edmund Chisman died in prison.
