Notes - Writing in the 1956 Supplement to his 1953 Nicholas Knapp Genealogy (citation details below), Alfred Averill Knapp says: "Ebenezer was married only once and then to Elizabeth Benedict, b. 1706, Danbury, dau. of Thomas Benedict & Elizabeth Hickox or Hickock. After Thomas Benedict died, his widow m. a Samuel Smith. Her children may have taken the name Smith which led to this error. Thomas Benedict was son of Samuel Benedict & Rebecca Andrews. Rebecca Andrews was dau. of Francis Andrews & Anna Smith. Anna Smith was dau. of Giles Smith, of Hartford, Conn."
