      Ancestor of Roger Sherman, founding father, the only person to sign all four of the Great Articles of State which created the United States -- the Declaration, the Articles of Association, the Articles of Confederation, and the Constitution. First Senator from Connecticut. First mayor of New Haven.

      This Henry Sherman was also an ancestor of James S. Sherman (1855-1912), 27th Vice President of the United States.
