    He was a graduate of the University of Illinois, and at the time of his marriage, he was superintendent of the electric light plant at Shawnee, Oklahoma. His obituary notes that he flew in France during World War I in an unarmed plane as a spotter for artillery, and that he was later an official with the Federal Power Commission in Chicago.

    He was a carpenter; specifically, a house-joiner. Later, he made his living by farming. Without proof, he is said by several online sources to have been a son of Johann Christian Boos and Catherine Stickler (or Strickler), emigrants from Germany.

    According to the History of Greene and Sullivan Counties (citation details below), his father, not named, was pressed into service in the Revolution along with his six-horse team, which he lost as a result; after the war, he sold his land and came west.

    Also according to History of Greene and Sullivan Counties, Jacob Booze was married three times, and was still living as of 1884, in Allen County Ohio, aged 88. The only wife named in the aforementioned county history was the second, Anna Slusser.
