Notes:

He was the patriarch of the Boston Brahmin Dana family, although his own life and origins were modest. He was not, as long supposed, descended from Huguenot refugees. He died of injuries sustained from a fall from a high place in his barn. Among the direct descendants listed on his Wikipedia page are:

He was a tanner in the Mill Gate neighborhood of Manchester. He may have been the Robert Dana who married, 10 Apr 1597 in the Collegiate Church of Manchester, Elizabeth Barlowe.
