  1. 1.  John Folsom was born about 1615 (son of Adham Smith alias Folsham and Agnes); died on 27 Dec 1681 in Exeter, Rockingham, New Hampshire.

    Notes:

    He called himself variously Folsom, Folsum, Foulsham, and notably on one occasion, "John ffoulsam alias Smith."

    He emigrated, with his wife, in 1638 on the Diligent. Fellow emigrant Daniel Cushing noted the presence on board of "John Foulsham and his wife and two servants [who] came from Old Hingham and settled in New Hingham." Also on board were her parents Edward and Mary Gilman.

    Selectman of Hingham in 1645. Representative to the General Court in 1659. In 1679 New Hampshire was established as a royal colony separate from Massachusetts, and John Folsom served on the council of its first governor, John Cutt.

    John married Mary Gilman on 4 Oct 1636 in Hingham, Norfolk, England. Mary (daughter of Edward Gilman and Mary Clarke) was born before 6 Aug 1615; was christened on 6 Aug 1615 in Hingham, Norfolk, England; died in 1692. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    1. Samuel Folsom was born between 1639 and 1640; was christened on 3 Oct 1641 in Hingham, Plymouth, Massachusetts; died before 27 Feb 1702.

  1. 2.  Adham Smith alias Folsham died before 23 Apr 1627; was buried on 23 Apr 1627 in Hingham, Norfolk, England.

    Notes:

    Probably a son of Adam Smythe alias Folsom of Besthorpe, Norfolk, and his wife Grace.
