1. Abigail Woods was born on 11 Dec 1726 in Groton, Middlesex, Massachusetts; died on 14 Aug 1786 in Carlisle, Middlesex, Massachusetts; was buried in Forest Cemetery, North Acton, Middlesex, Massachusetts.

James Bigelow and his second wife Elizabeth Child were first cousins once removed, he being a grandson of John Warren (1585-1667) and his wife Margaret (d. 1662), and her being a great-granddaughter of the same couple.

"As there is no reference to a son James, or his family in the father's Will, it might raise a doubt whether John had such a son but the record of his marriage, by Rev. Mr. Bailey, must remove all doubt. 'Upon the 25 March, 1687, at my own house, in Watertown, I married James Begalow, the son of John Begalow, and Patience Brown, the daughter of Jona. Notwithstanding the above, James Bigelow does appear in his father's will, as reproduced in the Genealogy of the Bigelow Family in America (citation details below):

"7. I give & bequeath unto my son James Biglo fifteen pounds, which I lent him as may appear by bond under his band and seal, and I give & bequeath to my said son James' son James Biglo ten pounds in money to be p'd him if he shall live to the age of twenty one years, but if it so happen that he deces. before s'd age, then ye s'd ten pounds to be equally devided between my s'd son James' surviving children, when they shall be of the age of twenty one years or day of marriage which shall first happon."

Elizabeth Child and James Bigelow were first cousins once removed, she being a great-granddaughter of John Warren (1585-1667) and his wife Margaret (d. 1662), and he being a grandson of the same couple.

He is not at all proved to be the son of Randall and Jane Baguley (Bauguley, Beagly, etc.) of Wrentham, Suffolk who was baptized there 16 Feb 1617. This claim, still held to by the Bigelow Society, appears to have been the work of the notorious 19th-century genealogical forger Horatio Gates Somerby.

As the WikiTree page about this John Bigelow notes, all three of the "proofs" for this ancestry cited by the Bigelow Society, on their web site and in the 1986 Bigelow Family Genealogy, are entirely unsourced.

In 2022 Leslie Mahler (citation details below) identified John Warren's wife as Margaret Abbott, sister of George Abbott of Roxbury and, like him, a child of their father's second marriage.

He settled in Watertown, where he was a freeman in 1634. The dates of his birth, emigration, and death are unknown, as is the identity of his spouse. He is said to have died early, being unaccustomed to the severe New England climate, although this leaves one wondering which of the early settlers were accustomed to it.

It has been suggested that he was a brother of the immigrant Ephraim Child, which would make him a son of Wolston Child and Ellen Empson, but this has yet to be proved.
