According to a note posted to her Find a Grave page by Alison Stevens on 20 Sep 2016, Mary Jane Mahaffey was in some way a cousin to Samuel Taylor Bonifield's second wife Mary Rebecca Walker, although we have yet to determine the exact path of this cousin relationship. The note also asserts that the first husband of Samuel Taylor Bonifield's second wife Mary Rebecca Walker, Isaiah "Izaer" Wells, was in some way a stepbrother of Samuel Taylor Bonifield's first wife Mary Jane Mahaffey. This appears to be in a way true, if not precisely so -- Isaiah Wells was a son of Mary Jane Mahaffey's mother's second husband Andrew Jackson Wells, by Andrew Jackson Wells's first wife Mary, birth surname unknown -- a kind of step-stepbrother, if you will.
