Richardson's Royal Ancestry (volume 4, page 268) calls her "Katherine." He may be right, but we can't discern his basis for doing so.

The History of Parliament entry for her father-in-law Richard Clitheroe (d. 1420) says that his only son, Roger, married Joan, Lady Cobham's "stepdaughter, Maud Oldcastle", i.e., the daughter of Lady Cobham's husband John Oldcastle by his earlier wife. The History of Parliament entry for her father John Oldcastle says that his daughter Maud "married Roger, son of Richard Clitheroe I of Ash-next-Sandwich, Kent."

The 7 Mar 1455 will of Roger Clyderow, esq., abstracted by Arthur Hussey in "Ash next Sandwich Wills", Archaeologia Cantiana 34, 1920, pages 58-59, calls his wife "Matilda." The abstract of her own will, dated 8 Oct 1457, in which she calls herself "Matilda, relict of Roger Clyderow", appears on pages 59-60 of the same article.

He may have been a son of, and was certainly related to, Roger de Cliderow, who lived at Little Betshanger, Kent, in the 1300s. From Villare cantianum, or, Kent surveyed and illustrated, etc., by Thomas Philipott (1659): "Little Betshanger was a Seat relating to the Family of Cliderow, which in elder Times was of eminent Account in this Track [...] Roger de Cliderow flourished here in the Reign of Edward the second, and Edward the third, and as appears by Seals affixed to old Evidences, which commence from the last Kings Reign, bore for his Coat Armour upon a Cheveron between three Eagles five Annulets, his Successor Richard Cliderow was Sheriff of Kent the fourth and most part of the fifth year of Henry the fourth; he was constituted soon after Admiral of the Seas, from the Thames mouth along the Saxon Shore to the West; for in those Times the Admiralty was divided sometimes into three, and most commonly into two Divisions, one beginning at the Thames mouth was Admiral of the Northern Seas, the second was Admiral from the Thames mouth Westward, and the third had the command of the Irish Seas; but in this man's Time King Henry the fourth, in the eighth year of his Reign, reduced it under one Person, and granted it with more ample and wide Authority under his Brother John Beauford Earl of Somerset." Richard Clitheroe was indeed sheriff of Kent in the fourth and fifth years of Henry IV, and just a few years later was Admiral of the Southern and Western Fleets.

Knight of the shire for Herefordshire, Jan 1404. Following his second marriage, to Joan de la Pole, Lady Cobham, as jure uxoris Lord Cobham he was summoned to Parliament by a series of writs from 26 Oct 1409 until 22 Mar 1413.

The place of his execution is the intersection of Oxford Street, New Oxford Street, Tottenham Court Road, and Charing Cross Road. Centre Point rises from the northwest corner of this intersection.

Sir John Oldcastle (died 14 December 1417) was an English Lollard leader. Being a friend of Henry V, he long escaped prosecution for heresy. When convicted, he escaped from the Tower of London and then led a rebellion against the King. Eventually, he was captured and executed in London. He formed the basis for William Shakespeare's character John Falstaff, who was originally called John Oldcastle.
