He was with the King in the invasion of France 1359-1360. Made a Knight of the Garter, 1361. Took part in the war in Lombardy, 1368-1372; fought in France, 1372-1373, was Constable of the Army in the Duke of Lancaster's unsuccessful expedition to France 1373-1374, and assisted the Duke of Brittany in his campaign in that province, 1375.
