  His first wife was Elizabeth Hotzenbella, daughter of Stephen Hotzenbella and Elizabeth Brumbach. His second wife Elizabeth's birth surname is unknown. This second Elizabeth was the mother of Susannah. "The last record that has been found of Jacob and Elizabeth is dated 15 May 1823. It is a deed concerning the sale to John Hatfield 'in consideration of the sum of One Dollar Current Money' of the fifty-seven acres that had been 'granted by James Monroe late governor of Virginia' to them on 11 November 1800.
