• Notes

  In the 1880 and 1900 censuses, his father was born in North Carolina, his mother in Ohio. He served as a private in Company G of the 90th Ohio Infantry from 16 Aug 1862 to 16 Mar 1863, when he was mustered out for disability. He named his son by his first wife George Brinton McClelland Wolfe, which speaks to his enthusiasm for the Union cause.
