Notes - Josiah Kenney appears in the Topsfield town records as born 12 Feb 1706, a son of "John jr. and Mary". From this we can reasonably conclude that his father was a John Kenney/Kinney/Kinne/Kene (etc.), his mother a Mary, and his paternal grandfather another John Kinney/Kenney/Kinne/Kene.
From this, various people have come to a wide variety of conclusions. Wikitree makes Josiah's father the John Kennee who is recorded in Salem town records as born 15 Aug 1689, son of John. The elder John, his father, is said by Wikitree to have been the John Kenne who appears in Salem records as "s. Henry" and who married Elizabeth Looke on 17 Jun 1675. It is further asserted that the husband of Elizabeth Looke was the John Keny who appears in Salem records born 1651 as son of Henry and Ann.
