    • Neil D. Thompson (citation details below) gives this John Tripp as definitely the son of the John Tripp who d. 1614. Carl Boyer (citation details below), citing Charlou Dolan, says only that he "may be" the son of that older John Tripp, as there are several Johns Tripp recorded as christened in and around Horkstow in this time period.
