  He was a whitesmith. According to Gary Boyd Roberts's Ancestors of American Presidents, his and his wife's descendants include Grover Cleveland, the two Bushes, and probably Gerald Ford. Fritz Leiber, Jr.'s common ancestry with Grover Cleveland actually happens four generations down, with Robert and Ruth's great-great grandson Aaron Porter and his wife Susanna Sewall.
