• Notes

  Charles Cotton (citation details below) says that "Daniel Curling (the second son of John Curling) also of Chilton, who married Elizabeth Pamphlet [...] died at the age of 45, in the year 1715." This is implausible, first, because the records of St Peter's, Broadstairs, Isle of Thanet, Kent show that Daniel Curling and "Elizabeth Pamflet" were married on 23 Apr 1723; and second, because their son William Curling, who married Mary Proctor, was baptized 25 Feb 1741. According to his Find a Grave page (citation details below), his gravestone in the St. Laurence churchyard reads "Daniel CURLING, of Chilton, died 6th March 1745-6 aged 45 years".
