Notes - Newton Genealogy says, evidently incorrectly, that Adam Hemenway "died without children." The birth record of Phineas Hemenway, born in Worcester two years after Adam Hemenway's marriage to Lydia Rice, identifies his parents as Adam and Lydia Hemenway.
That said, while we find it very likely that this Adam was a member of the extensive Hemenway/Heminway/Hemingway family, we have been unable to find proof of his parentage. He is identified on some online sources as a son of Jonathan Hemenway (1712-1757) and his wife Mary Foster (b. 1721), and in other places as a son of one Ebenezer Hemenway, but all without proof.
