Notes - Called "Matilda de Arundel" in Eyton's Antiquities of Shropshire (chart, v. 10, p. 183); called "Matilda filia....de Tideshill [Tideshall] vidua 35 E. 1." in the 1623 Visitation of Shropshire. If the former is correct, it is tempting to place her (as many online sources do) as a daughter of Sir John Fitz Alan and Maud de Verdun (also called Maud de Boteler), who died in 1267 and 1283 respectively, but there is no less reason to suppose she was from the unrelated Arundel family of Dorset. In fact we're unaware of any primary-source evidence for her parentage.
