  Her name sometimes appears as "Crowe", but on the record of her daughter Nellie May's 1925 marriage to her first husband, Ned Ervin Barkhouse, the maiden name of the bride's mother is clearly given as "Odessa Crowell," and she was one of the document's two witnesses, signing as "Mrs. John W. Acker." Also called Odessa Estella Crowell, Odessa Estalle Adeline Crowell, etc. The 1901 census calls her ethnicity "O. B. Other Breed." Her death certificate calls her "English."
