    Arrived in 1632 on the William & Francis; first at Roxbury, then Weymouth 1643, Gloucester 1651, Topsfield 1655. He was a soldier, schoolmaster, and minister.

    William Perkins, at the age of eighteen, entered Emmanuel College of Cambridge as pensioner; later, he transferred to Christ's College from which he graduated A.B. at the Lent term, in 1627-8. He came to New England on the William and Francis, with Capt. Thomas, Master. It sailed from London 9 March and arrived 5 June 1632 with about sixty passengers. In 1633, he along with John Winthrop, Jr., and eleven others began the settlement of Agawam. "April 1th, 1633. It is ordered, that noe pson wtsoeuer shall goe to plant or inhabit att Aggawam, without leave from the Court, except those that are already gone, vz: Mr. John Winthrop, Jun'r, Mr. Clerke, Robte Coles, Thomas Howlett, John Biggs, John Gage, Thomas Hardy, Willm Perkins, Mr. Thornedicke, Willm Srieant. 5 August 1634, it is ordered that Aggawam shal be called Ipswich."

    He took the oath of freeman at Boston 3 September 1634, and shortly after that, he removed to Roxbury, Suffolk Co., MA, where he had a grant of land in 1641. In 1643 he removed to Weymouth, Suffolk Co., MA and represented that town in the General Court in 1644. He was also a commissioner to settle small debts, leader of a military a company, and a member of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Co. in 1638. Between 1640 and 1674, William made several trips back to England. From 1650 to 1655 he was preaching to the inhabitants of Gloucester, Essex Co., MA. He became a minister of Topsfield after 1655 until his death 21 May 1682.

    "It is not known exactly when Edward came to New England. The first record we have of him is on a record when he took the oath of fidelity, 18 October 1648, as an inhabitant of New Haven. The earliest mention of his name after that on the New Haven records, is in a volume of miscellaneous transactions or 'Estate Settlements,' p. 225, dated 3 November 1657, when as a planter he makes deposition: 'That in the Spring last he sewed about 2 acres of Pease in his lott, and after they were come up Ther came in hoggs at Stendman's fence and spoyled them--so that he had not above two bushels of pease of them; but he then got the damage viewed by John Coopr and Samuel Whitehead, who judged his loss at least six bushels of pease, which he hath demanded of Mr. Stendham.'"
