    • Graduated Harvard, 1653; preached several years in Salem, Massachusetts; removed, in 1660, to Hartford, Connecticut, where he was ordained over the First Church. In 1670 a second church was formed at Hartford, of which he was chosen pastor.

      Not to be confused with John Whiting (d. 1690), son of Samuel Whiting of Lynn.
