    "In 1267 his men and those of Roger de Mortimer adhered (redidderunt se) to Llewelyn. He had protection in February 1262/3 on going to the Welsh wars; and in the autumn of 1264 he surrendered Richard's Castle to Montfort. Like the other Lords Marchers, he appears to have taken the King's side in 1264 and 1265, and was consequently rewarded. On 9 August 1265, just after the battle of Evesham, he received custody of the manor and forest of Feckenham, co. Worcester; in November 1266 a charter for a market and fair at Burford and free warren at Wichbold; and at about the same time a charter to make Burford a free borough. In 1272 respite of pleas was allowed him in co. Hereford while he came to the King's Parliament at Westminster." [Complete Peerage]

Queen Margaret seems to have thought the action was not entirely reprehensible and interceded to obtain a pardon for her."     He fought for Richard III at Bosworth in 1485, and in the wake of that defeat he was attainted, 7 Nov 1485, and all his estates declared forfeit. The following year the new king, Henry VII, granted what had been William's manor of Northfield, Worcestershire to the king's uncle Jasper Tudor, Duke of Bedford. In 1489 William was restored in blood, and granted the reversion of Northfield after the death of Jasper Tudor. Despite this, when Jasper died in 1495, the king took possession of Northfield.

    Richardson (citation details below) gives a date for the marriage of this Henry Ferrers to Margaret Hexdale of before 30 Sep 1481, when a grant of land in Kent on that date refers to Henry and Margaret as husband and wife. But another recorded grant of the manor of Hamyldon (Hambleton) to Henry and his wife is dated 14 Nov 1468, and a marriage date shortly before that fits much more tidily with Henry's i.p.m. on 17 Oct 1503, in which his and Margaret's son Edward is said to be "age 30 or more".
